The lady, the meme, the legend - Kate

So Kate's told me (Ben) to write her bit here because she can't write about herself. I get it, you've got to be pretty narcissistic to write paragraphs about yourself. Anyway, more on me after this.

But for now, this is all about Kate - the coolest person around.

Kate's a Graphic Designer, she also designed this website, and most of the stuff I make, she's bloody great. Hailing from the very middle-class Allestree of Derby, graduating from Derby uni with a First Class Degree in Graphic Deezign, she's worked at Alt for 4 years now and spends a lot of time dragging shapes about.

She's got great taste (she's decided to spend most of her time with me, so there ya go), and also enjoys weird stuff, generally spends her time making stuff, walking the dogs, explorin'.

Been featured in some fancy design book that I can't remember the name of for a logo that she designed for Loaf in Ashbourne & Crich, but everything she makes, I very muchly like.

One of Kate's real passions is wearing hats. I have an entire folder dedicated to "Kate in Hats", here are a few examples of this below.

A bit about Ben

Word up you sexy peep. Yes you, I don't see anyone else in the room with us?

I'm a Software/Web/App (and other digital shizz) developer by trade - well known for my poster design, I mean, I'm not, but those who know me well enough will know about my top-notch posters. Along with my MD, I run Alt Design in Derby, making all sorts of funky stuff together with some of my favourite peeps, for some awesome clients.

Originally from Chad (not the country) in Derby, I've lived all over the land of Derbyshire, finally settling on Ashbourne to make our home. Often found spending my time giving myself crippling back problems over a keyboard, or intaking more caffeine than I should with what would appear to be the aim of inducing an early death (it's not), or spending too much money on craft beer (big shout out House of Beer you sexy bastards). Here's hoping that beer counteracts caffeine 🤞

Friggin love all things cool, weird, funky, just stuff that's out of the norm. Our house is full of things from our adventures, here in the UK, or abroad, we've got an entire board in the kitchen dedicated to Brian Butterfields Diet Plan (See below for reference, and see here for wtf I'm talking about).

I wanted to make this site, in the efforts of presenting people who live here, or people travelling here, with something that's written by real people, and isn't just full of corporate shit, or what you "should be saying". It's just a couple of real peeps, vetting all of the content here, and giving honest opinions. No paid advertising, no "sponsored posts" (also known as bribery), no bullshit. Just our honest opinions and helpful information for all peeps.
